EXPLORING THIRLMERE

Exploring the beautiful Thirlmere formerly known as Wythburn, with an impressive 10 mile walk around its large reservoir and wonderful walks along the shoreline, fells and forest it’s definitely worth a visit.

Helvellyn at its eastern edge and Skiddaw and Blencathra to the north and Dunmail Raise to the south.

We believe their is a famous cairn at the summit of Dunmail Raise said to be the burial place of King Dunmail, the last monarch of the medieval kingdom of Cumbria, dating to around 945AD.
